Local Woman Releases Memoir Detailing the Tragic Loss of Her Husband

Dawn Bell of Winter Park releases her book “Wife of the Deceased” in early October 2014. Paperback and Kindle eBook versions will be available on Amazon. The Nook eBook will be listed on Barnes & Noble, and iBook will be available through Apple.
While turning the pages of this extremely raw and uncensored memoir, the reader will become familiar with the devastation, pain, and anger Dawn experienced after the sudden and unexpected death of her husband of 14 years. The memoir is drawn from her journal entries documenting the three and a half years following that terrible day. She suffered mentally, emotionally, and physically while trying to care for the couple’s 4-year old daughter.

Living their Dream Life Together

Dawn and Matt Bell moved to sunny Central Florida from wintry Wisconsin in late 1999 so Matt could attend flight school in Sanford. Shortly after graduation, he was hired as a cargo pilot for UPS. Dawn and Matt seized every opportunity to travel around the world and see places they’d only read about in books and magazines. The couple’s dream of parenthood became a reality in 2006 when they welcomed their daughter, Ava Elizabeth into the world. The Bell family made their home in Sanford. Everything felt perfect.

Her World Shattered

On September 3, 2010, that all changed. The UPS cargo plane Matt and another pilot were flying was overcome by fire and crashed in Dubai. Both men died. The tragedy headlined newscasts around the globe. After the extensive accident investigation, Matt’s body was finally sent home for friends and family to say goodbye. Then life was supposed to get back to normal, but that never happened for Dawn. Grief consumed her at a level she never thought possible.

Her Desire to Help Others

Dawn wrote her story to help others understand what a day in the life of a griever looks and feels like. Her goal was to create a resource for others experiencing a tragic loss. She said, “If reading about my experience can help just one other person get through the grieving process, I will consider it a success.”
Dawn will be signing copies of “Wife of the Deceased” on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 2:30-5:30pm at Park Plaza Gardens in Winter Park. The public is welcome. For more information and to set up an interview with Dawn Bell, please call (702) 577-7509 or email me at lesliewalden@cfl.rr.com.

Autism Awareness Month

Today kicked off Autism Awareness Month. While this issue continues to grow and affect families globally it is also getting the attention and focus necessary to at least try and keep pace with the huge number of people touched by this disorder. There are still many people slipping through the cracks and in need of help. The resources being put into the fight against autism are finally getting in line with the scope of this ‘problem’. However until there is some progress in being able to clearly identify the culprits it will never be enough and the battle will continue with many determined and good people fighting the good fight.

Educate yourself about this issue and see what you can do to help on a local level.

Man’s Best Friend

Charlotte hams it up!

Anyone who’s had a dog understands the important role these special beings play in a family. The pure and unconditional love of a family dog is something that everyone should be fortunate enough to experience.

Charlotte is 8 years young and every single day she teaches us about unconditional love. Whether sitting at our feet while we peck away at a keyboard and work. Greeting us at the door without fail every single time anyone comes home or making sure she is body to body with whomever she is sharing the couch with.

Pure love, friendship & loyalty about sums it up.

We can’t wait to see you on your special day Mom! Happy birthday to a beautiful woman! You touch the people around you in more ways than you will ever know.

Mom, thanks for making the trip. It was wonderful as always having you with us. I’m thinking that Taverna Agora may become a family spot…

Good things coming for all of us in 2008!

free credit report!

Did you know that Americans are now entitled to a free credit report once per year from the 3 major credit bureaus? It’s a good idea to check your files to make sure there is nothing in there that doesn’t belong. With fraud and banks/creditors not following through and keeping your payment and account information current, it is your responsibility to watch your own back and keep your credit file up-to-date.

Make a cup of tea or coffee and follow the link below. There is absolutely no cost for the peace of mind of knowing that your credit report is on track and correct.

How do I know this link really works? I just pulled my credit files 10 minutes ago. What are you waiting for?

Fun & Sun In Aruba

Yes, after a year of planning we are finally here. Partly for vacation (well mostly) and partly for our friends’ wedding.

It has been an absolute blast and just a wonderful island to visit. After getting hustled out of an extra 3 bucks by the cabbie from the airport to the hotel it has been all uphill!

Alicia, Sebastian and I have enjoyed our time at the Aruba Marriott Surf Club. The suite is spacious and having the extra room and kitchen facilities has made the trip (with our 11 month old) a bit more relaxing and enjoyable. The staff here has been top notch. I can’t think of anything bad to report at this hotel/resort.

During the day we have been alternating between the moving river pool within the resort and going to the beach which is right behind us. I must say, there is really nothing that beats a bar planted right in the middle of a pool. For me it adds new meaning to the term ‘wet bar’… I could become very lazy and chubby living here.

Well, tonight is Brian & Claire’s wedding. It should be a treat for all of us as it will be right on the beach. Friends and family have come in from all over including the UK, Raleigh North Carolina, Pittsburg Pennsylvania and possibly other areas which I am not aware of. We are really looking forward to seeing these two take their vows in what looks to be a paradise dream setting…

I must just write about an amazing experience I had last night at the reception. It was at the Tierra Del Sol Country Club on the northern tip of Aruba. This picturesue rolling greens compound was just gorgeous. Even with the villa construction going on it was something out of a movie. The cacti were incredibly developed and almost looked fake. Well, as the evening wore on so did Sebastian. He did his best to hang but at last after a fun day/week in the sun and water we were pushing his boundries as dusk approached. Alicia and I did our best to entertain him but when we got the ‘yaaaawn’ it was time for plan ‘z’… I took a stroll with him down a path behind the main country club building and we sat down to just take in the perfect cool breeze and starry skies. Well, I would like to believe he felt the same way! Anyways, after about 20 minutes Sebastian had finally given in to the sleep fairy. The lids closed and he laid limp in my lap and arms only holding on to my thumb with his left hand. As I looked around and could hear the laughter and chatter down the path I knew my fellow party goers were having a great time. Then I looked at my son, then at the clear star sprinkled sky and then back at my son and thought wow what a perfect perfect night. As I smiled and lightly chuckled to myself I got a quick flutter of chills up my back and thought ‘I’m the luckiest Dad on this island right now’….
